Response To Harbaugh
Raven's Coach John Harbaugh said that both the Patriots and Saints titles have asterisks, and he is right. Unfortunately, whether or not the championships will ever be officially rescinded (and they won't), there will be those who question their validity. This taints the legacy for sure. Unfortunately, Harbaugh is correct.
Belichick and Brady need to win another super bowl to validate their legacy. The XLII and XLVI losses only make the asterisk weigh heavier. No amount of videotaping could have helped the lack of execution in the critical moments of both games. Really, there is a minimal competitive advantage anyway, but the issue is not whether or not breaking the rules lead to a title.
The issue is public opinion. The asterisk will never be an official sanction, but people constantly bring up Spygate, and there is no good response. Asking them to do their homework on the scandal is like talking to a wall. There is very little condemning evidence, and most of the scandal was based on heresay, but none of that matters to Jets and Giants fans.
1. Not actually against the rules to spy on defensive signals, just to tape them (from non-designated locations without approved reflective attire).
2. Tapes were not used in the same game as they were taken (was NEVER even alleged).
3. Rams walk-thru tape is a fabrication by Matt Walsh (heresay).
4. Mangini, you soulless a-hole (you were guilty of the same thing).
5. Largest penalty in NFL history (scandal with Sen. Arlen Spector was a criminal misuse of taxpayer dollars)
6. Anyone who says there was a tape of Eagles / Panthers is making up allegations.
7. People just need to get over the nicknames.
