Gronk is "Not Ready" - Brady Shoulders Load

The original timetable for Gronk's injury ranged from 4-6 weeks. Some experts tried to push that number to 8 weeks, but the general assumption was that Gronk would be ready for the postseason. All these articles about Belichick saying that Gronk is "not ready" are over-blowing the quotation.

Belichick says that Gronk is day-to-day. There are still a few days to heal, so Gronk will be listed as Questionable. The real story here is the forthcoming nature of BB's press conference. Just using the words "not ready yet" is enough to perk my ears up. Listening to it again, I think that his attitude is pretty telling: Gronk won't play because its not the postseason.

I miss that catch radius, don't you?
I miss his blocking even more though...
Belichick isn't playing the guys that are hurt. Unless you are begging him to suit up, you are resting. The bye week is not in our control, so we need to prepare for all the possibilities. Aqib Talib, Alfonzo Dennard, and maybe even Logan Mankins should sit this week. Injuries are the biggest obstacle for this team because it has come to the point where injuries are affecting execution. Many of the injured players are still practicing, so I don't buy the rhythm/rust argument. We just need rest, and hopefully we can gut out a win behind Tom Brady.

Interestingly, The Patriots game has been moved to 4:25 pm, so Houston and Baltimore play beforehand. The Patriots will still have to wait for the result of the 4:25 Denver game, but we should have a good idea of what a victory could mean. A Houston loss would open the door for a first round bye, and with our injuries and self-inflicted issues, we could really use a bye week.

I am having a hard time thinking about The Miami game when the playoffs are looming so closely. Unfortunately, we still need to win this game. Even if we have to crap out a victory like last week, we need to win this game. It's not encouraging that we had to squeak out a victory at Miami earlier this month. The way I see it, this has to come down to Tom Brady and his offensive line. Brady needs to protect the football better; plain and simple.

Hopefully, Brady's throwing shoulder feels okay because he's going to have the whole team on his back next week and all through the playoffs. Still, we believe in you Tom. Seriously, we wouldn't swap you for anyone. Just go out there and sling it.
