Patriots Will Host AFCCG vs. Ravens

Tom Brady led his Patriots to a 17th playoff victory since 2001, passing Joe Montana for most all-time. Brady was sacked once, but he played a clean game otherwise, good enough for 115.0 passer rating. He completed 25/40 for 344 yards and 3 TDs. The Texans defense came up with some big stops, but Brady made great decisions, and avoided many potential tipped balls. In the end, The Texans just could keep up with the pace of Brady's offense, and surrendered 41 points.

Brady certainly got help from his offensive line, who played outstanding. Likewise, the effectiveness of Ridley and Vereen took a ton of pressure off Brady. Let's not forget about Wes Welker's reliability throughout the game. He absolutely carried the team in the first half with his huge catches on 3rd downs.

Nevertheless, the story that I find most impressive is the play of the defense. McCourty made a huge TD-saving tackle on the first kickoff return to give the defense a chance to force a FG. Despite a tough start to the game, The Patriots defense stood up to take back the momentum. Also, both Arian Foster and Andre Johnson were held under 100 yards of offense. Arian Foster had an extremely slow start to the game, and he only starting having success when The Patriots were protecting a lead. Andre Johnson  had quite a few catches against Talib, but he never broke away for a big play. Also, huge game by Ninkovich with that INT and the kick recovery.

Overall, the game plan may not have been executed perfectly, but we kept battling for 60 minutes. We survived the first 6 minutes of Texan momentum, but then we broke through for a touchdown, and never looked back. Unfortunately, we may have lost Gronkowski for the rest of the postseason. Likewise, Danny Woodhead and Chandler Jones left with injuries. We are going to have to adjust to whatever life throws at us, and in this game, we did a pretty good job.

Next up, The Ravens come to Foxboro to revisit the ghosts of Billy Cundiff's missed Fg last year. It's a rematch of familiar faces in the AFC Championship Game, and the best part is that its all going down at Gillette Stadium next Sunday.
