Leon Washington Signs
Leon Washington has announced on twitter that he was "blessed." The message included Lets Go #Pats, and a picture of the speedy RB and Return man wearing a Patriots cap in front of some framed Patriots memorabilia. So, the news is unofficial as of yet, but the story will unfold over the next few hours.
Washington was cut by the Seahawks this offseason. He has produced 26 TDs in his 7 year career, including 8 TDs on kick returns. He runs a 4.4s 40 yard dash, and has a great ability to read kick coverages. He is a better kickoff returner than a punt returner, but he can do both.
He will likely factor into the Offense as a deep threat, but being listed as a RB will make his role intriguing. He figures to be used creatively out of the backfield along with fellow speedster Jeff Demps. As to how much he will be utilized remains to be seen. Nevertheless, he is a shiny new toy that can be difference maker in 2 phases of the game.
He's only 5'8" and he is not the physical presence that I still think we are lacking, but the dude can flat out run and cut as well as anyone in the league.
